Schools Out for Summer

Some of you suggested that the end of the school year may be affecting the Fabulous Miss M.  I think that is likely right on.  I don't know why I didn't think of that.  Maybe I am getting rusty?  Maybe I was lulled into a sleepy state by the little girl who had been doing so very well?  It's like my reasonable self understands that even when things are going well they won't stay that way indefinitely but it seems that my Mama heart goes "hooray we made it she is cured."  sigh

The intern left the classroom a week or two ago and Miss M was not okay with that.  She likes her main teacher better but she had become used to this person being in the room and in charge.  She no likey change.  Mrs. Teacher is back in charge of the class.  She babies Miss M and lets her get by with way too much and frankly this is all unsettling for Miss M and it makes losing this teacher to someone else all the more upsetting for her.

Miss M had been writing things like "the best thing that ever happened to me is that Mrs. Teacher is very nice to me" in her journal.  Those things just feed into the teachers view that she knows best how to handle Miss M.

Oh well we keep on keepin on!

Ten of the past 11 years I've worked in public schools and I can tell you that the stress/anxiety of the vague impending changes of summer are enough to send even the calmest child or teacher over the edge...Then there is the domino effect of EVERYONE in the building being just a little OFF their regular game... For us in New England that starts with school vacation in mid April and progesses til school lets out in mid June. Two months of institutional disregulation. JOY!!!
