Too True Tuesday

Okay boys and girls today we are talking about how we could have been cool if it weren't for these kids of ours.

Honestly there are so many examples where do I begin?  I'll go with this one.  None of my children have entered into pre-school with scissor skills and I don't care.  That makes me uncool for sure.  The fact is my children are dangerous with scissors and they cut stuff off with scissors that was not meant to come off.  Such as?  Such as the hair of baby dolls, parts of their clothes, parts of their shoes, bed linens, etc.  I am not going to mention any one specific name but I think we all know who she is.

Granted her scissor performance has matured over the last 6 months, she just turned 7.  But at age 3 when scissor skills usually get started, let's just say I wasn't ready.

I have been "talked to" by everyone of my kids pre-school teachers about how behind they are in this skill and how they need the opportunity to blah blah blah.  I smile and say, "Oh yes you are exactly right we will have to work on that for sure."  In my mind I am thinking no way.  Uncool parent right here!

Lil Bro is now 4 and he has absolutely no scissor skills what so ever.  Why?  Because he has an uncool Mom who is kind of paranoid with the scissor action.  I should be embarrassed and say that I am going to work on it.  That's what I should say.

Do you hear me saying that?  Nope.

So there I will take my uncool parent award and display it with pride.

LOL! Seriously, scissors, who needs 'em! What is so important anyway! My kids were deficient too, after testing a variety of things to see if the scissors would work on them. Such as the safety seal on a bottle of bleach toilet bowl cleaner.

Ha ha! I'm right there with ya. When Taz turned 3 it had never even occured to me to give him scissors. He wasn't even close to being potty trained, couldn't identify colors, and couldn't even say his name! Scissors were the last thing on my list. But it's the school's job to teach that stuff right? At least that's what I thought. And hey. He has emerging scissor skills now so who cares?

scissors are totally over rated and my kids still cut their clothes. I did finally buy Calvin plastic scissors for school because I was tired of him cutting his hair, his clothes, his shoes... as I said they are overrated

Oh, my! If that's the worst thing they can find to talk about, you're the world's best MOM! My youngest was allowed to have a pair of scissors for exactly one day. She cut holes in her shirt. She was banned from scissor use until very recently and I still supervise, so who gets the award? My oldest cut her own hair down to the scalp, front and center, in the second grade!!! Go figure. She was great with scissors up until then. :( Parenting is not for sissies, is it?

Classic! No scissors OR glitter, if I could help it. Or glue.
